Only the SNP Can Provide Leadership on Education in the Western Isles

Roslyn MacPherson SNP candidate for Beinn Na Foghla agus Uibhist a Tuath has called on voters in the Western Isles to back the progressive agenda of the SNP to transform education services delivered by the Comhairle.

The local elections are an opportunity for people across the islands to back a team of SNP candidates who will work hard to invest in education, support the delivery of free childcare and empower schools across the islands. The SNP have made clear in their local government manifesto that it will be their priority to improve educational standards in the Western Isles.

Commenting, Roslyn MacPherson said:

“The council elections are hugely important for communities across Scotland. In particular, these elections are so important for the Western Isles. Voters in the Western Isles will have the opportunity to elect Councillors with the vision and leadership to transform our educational services.

“The SNP has a proud record in government at Holyrood in education, and an SNP-led Comhairle nan Eilean Siar will put education at the heart of our progressive agenda to improve our communities across these islands. Every single vote for the SNP in Benbecula and North Uist is a vote to deliver more free childcare, transform early learning, invest in and empower our schools.

“An SNP-led Comhairle nan Eilean Siar will work with the Scottish Government to back our headteachers and work tirelessly to reduce the attainment gap across the islands. Too many schools in our community have been closed by the local authority, and this trend must be reversed. The SNP will provide the long-term strategy and ambition for our schools that cannot be provided by a block of independent councillors.”
